New Opportunities to Strengthen Climate Resilience
We are excited to share that a new UK-wide programme has received £2,052,488 over five years from the Climate Action Fund - a long-term commitment from The National Lottery Community Fund to support UK communities to act on climate change and involve more people in positive environmental action.
The partnership between Equally Ours, Groundwork South’s Communities Prepared programme and the VCS Emergencies Partnership will work to reduce barriers to climate action for marginalised communities, ensuring that people facing discrimination are actively shaping climate preparedness, response and recovery.
Climate-related emergencies such as heatwaves, flooding and severe weather disproportionately impact marginalised communities. Yet those same communities are too often excluded from resilience planning and decision-making. Through a rights-based and co-produced approach, the programme will work to shift this.
Thanks to National Lottery players, over the next five years the programme will combine resilience training, strategic communications, policy influencing, and systems change work to support communities to shape climate resilience locally and nationally.
We are proud to be delivering this work alongside a network of equality organisations and resilience partners who are shaping the programme from the outset.
Across the programme we are recruiting for several key roles, including:
Programme Manager - VCS Emergencies Partnership (apply here)
Practice and Policy Lead - Equally Ours (apply here)
Senior Project Officer - Groundwork South’s Communities Prepared (apply here)
If you are passionate about climate justice, equality and community-led change, we encourage you to explore these opportunities.
