September 2026 - Network Call (Online)

Given what we have experienced over the summer in terms of heatwaves, drought and wildfires; what we are increasingly likely to experience over the coming months with wetter and stormy weather; and what meteorologists are suggesting could be one of the hottest summers ever in 2027, our September Network Call will focus on the unprecedented El Niño we are experiencing, what to plan for and do.

The call will cover lessons we have identified from previous responses including storms, power cuts and adverse weather and the actions we need to take so that we can be prepared to support everyone through response and recovery. We will touch on acute incidents as well as longer-term chronic risks like climate change and the required resilience, adaptation and prevention to meet those challenges. These are all relevant and valuable but underpinning all of this should be a focus on people and communities who are seldom heard, under-represented and often disproportionately impacted.

If you don’t have the Network Call invite in your diary, please contact info@vcsep.org.uk
